You are in the right place if...

  • You are a substance abuse or mental health treatment provider and you want to effectively integrate tobacco treatment into other modes of treatment.

David Doreau"Kennebec Behavioral Health as a Community Mental Health Center was founded on the idea that mental  disorders  affect the whole person and the community in which they live. Effective treatment must include attention to physical, psychological, social and spiritual issues. Tobacco use affects the body, increasing the risk of sickness and death. It affects the mind producing temporary pleasure but at the cost of addiction and increased likelihood of depression and anxiety. It affects the community putting others at risk with second hand smoke and causing the distress of seeing loved ones die before their time. And like other addictions, often the person feels powerless to change and needs powerful encouragement and help that comes from a spirit of concern and commitment. Kennebec Behavioral Health envisions itself as part of the community that provides help to stop use of tobacco and find what the individual needs to live a healthier tobacco free life."
